Our family fun days

August 5, 2011

We don’t spend a whole lot of time together as a family.  I work Monday – Friday day, Craig works Monday – Friday nights. I spend Friday night & all day Saturday with my parents and grandma so the only day we have is Sunday. It used to be taken up with all the mundane things you tend to do on a Sunday – washing, cleaning, ironing, baking etc but we have decided to get all that done during the week (thanks to Craig!) and spend Sundays together.

So far we have been to the Trafford Centre (it was raining & we wanted a walk!), Martin Mere Wildlife Centre  and Southport, Rhyl and Prestatyn and this weekend we’re off to the Blackpool Annual Airshow. This month we’ve also got planned a friend’s birthday party and Animal Quackers in Bacup with Craig’s sister, her husband and Baby Yak (Jack).

We are seriously loving these days out. Sam loves anywhere with a beach, I love anywhere with shops and Craig loves anywhere he gets to relax with us all together. We’re struggling with finding new places to go so I have been exploring online & have drawn up a list. Some of these are a bit far away so I think we may have to make it a weekend away once a month. We’ll have to cut back in other areas but it’ll be worth it.

 –          Warwick Castle

–          Legoland Discovery Centre Manchester

–          Morecambe

–          Tatton Park

–          Peppa Pig World

–          Flamingo Land

–          Gulliver’s World

I’ve found a couple of websites (  , ) where you can get discount vouchers for some of these. If you hunt around there’s almost always a voucher to be found for where you want to go.

One we’ve picked up this week is for Legoland – they have teamed up with nutella to give one free child’s place! You just take along the lid from promotional jars & a child gets in free – saving over £30! Bargain. Not that I need an excuse for buying nutella 🙂 The jars are available until 2nd November.

We all look forward to our one day a week of being together. Just seeing Sam’s face makes any expense, any effort and any weather (!) totally worth it!

Southport Yeah. Thanks for that.

Such fun!

Look! I like Grandad!

Prestatyn - 30 seconds later Sam fell flatonhis face, in the water. He shouted 'Mummy, come and get me' but I was laughing so hard I nearly wet myself. #mummyfail

I would add Trentham Estate to that list. It’s in Stoke and literally has everything – a monkey walk through the woods, an adventure playground, shops, cafes, loads of space to run about, a bare foot walk….
